Millie's First Halloween
Millie has always been a little birdie. Everyone that sees her starts to call her "Birdie" or "Little Bird" without even hearing us say it. It's because she almost always has her mouth open like a hungry baby bird and has skinny long little bird legs. So naturally - this nickname inspired her halloween costume that I made for her.
This is how I made her wings. I found the angel wings and feathers on sale at the craft store, then just used a glue gun to arrange them on the wings. It worked out perfectly!
Jaycob spent a lot of time making his nest... He is hilarious!
I had some fun with my eye make-up...
that's the fun part about halloween right?!

Our Baby Millie Girl is Born!
All day and night Sunday (Sept. 1st 2013) I was continuing to have very painful and progressing contractions. They were jumping around from 8-12 min apart though so I waited. Finally around 2 am, the were so painful I just couldn't take it. Jaycob called the on call nurse and she advised we go to the hospital. We got there at 2:40 am and I was hooked to monitors and checked for dilation and effacement. I was dilated to a 3 and 80% effaced. Because I was in so much pain, the nurse decided to only wait 15 min (instead of the usual hour) to check. I was then a 4 so the admitted me and called the Anesthesiologist. At 9:00 am, I was 100% effaced and dilated to a 10. They wanted me to start pushing. Dr. Dayton came in and decided to use forcepts to get the baby out quicker because there was distress. I was scared at first. They brought in a NICU team just in case. After about two contractions with the forcepts, baby was out. Jaycob announced that it was a GIRL!!

Baby Girl Gets a Name
After she was all cleaned up, tests done, and I was moved from labor & delivery to mother and baby. Then for about 20 minutes, Jaycob and I were left alone with our new little girl while everyone went to get dinner. We went back to our long list of names but I already knew when I first looked at her. Millie.
We didn't have any trouble deciding. I'm so lucky to have such an incredible and supporting husband!
It was so great to have Jaycob there and able to stay with me in the hospital. He's such an incredible dad already. He is so interested in everything Millie does and is so helpful.
She is incredible. We love her so much already!

Sample Sale Sites
Every day, I am consistently checking a few sample sale sites for great deals. Some of them have women, men, home, and even kid sections. They have some designer items but usually for more than 50% off. There are new sales daily so you get to keep looking back to see if there is anything new that interests you. I am always looking for more sales (let me know if I'm missing any good ones!) - Here are my favorites so far:
1. Rue La La:
Boutiques Include - | Women | Men | Living | Travel | Kids | Gifts | Today's Fix |
This one is nice because it offers one time shipping for the whole month.
2. HauteLook:
Events Include - | Women | Men | Kids | Home | Beauty |
A Nordstrom Company.
3. Ideeli:
Sales Include - | Women | Shoes | Home |
4. Gilt Groupe:
Sales Include - | Women | Men | Baby & Kids | Home | City | Travel |
Higher pricing than the others - has the higher-end of designer sales.
5. Zulily:
Daily Deals Include - | Maternity | Mom | Baby | Kids |
They are not as high quality of items as the other sites, but it is very helpful for maternity and baby clothes that are not too expensive. Sometimes they get the higher brands on. Also, great for baby shower gifts and baby gear!
6. My Habit:
Events Include - | Women | Men | Children | Home | Designer |
Owned by Amazon.com.
7. Jack Threads:
Sales Include - | Mens | Clothing | Shoes | Accessories |
This site just has gear for guys. I have used it so many times getting presents for my husband, bro-in-laws, and dad.

Announcing Baby Brug
At the beginning of January, we found out that I was pregnant. I wasn't feeling well, so I took a pregnancy test before calling the doctor the next morning. To my surprise, two pink lines showed up. I screamed for Jaycob. He came in looked at the test, laughed, and didn't believe it. He said to take another one and he went to bed. I waited an hour or two, then took another test - again, two happy pink lines. I went to bed and called the nurse in the morning. She said that the tests are pretty accurate and to schedule an appointment for my 8th week check-up. When Jaycob came home from baseball practice, I had this note waiting for him:
Now we only have six weeks left until my due date. We are so anxious and excited to meet this little one!
He was shocked & thrilled!
We waited until after our first check-up (ultrasound) that confirmed the pregnancy, before telling our families. We put it up on the skype screen while skyping Jaycob's family in Arizona. We put the picture in an envelope and gave it to my parents then showed my siblings after.
Here is a close up of the tag:

Car-seat Canopy Cover Pattern Tutorial
My sister Kara and I made car-seat canopy covers yesterday. It was really fun! We used this tutorial from the Sutton Grace blog. It was easy for us (very much beginners at sewing). Her tutorial says it will take 2 hours to complete the project but it took much longer for us, probably because we're idiots and don't know how to do this type of craft.
This is mine. I chose a nice minty/teal fabric so that it will work for either a boy or a girl.
My fabric is from Joann's (colors in picture below look a bit darker than it really is).
I did my straps a little differently than the tutorial shows. I added the second color just a few centimeters shorter on top to have the double layers.
The Nautical one is Kara's. I love it! The fabric is from Sarah Jane Studio's "Out at Sea" line.

Call from the princesses - Cinder & Punzie
Evie just got a call from Cinderella and Repunzel because she was a big girl and ate her dinner! She made sure to put her lipstick on for the occasion
Text "princess" to 33992. You can choose between, Merida, Cinderella, and Repunzel. It works!

I was told that this no longer works. What a bummer.

MLB Draft 2013 | Jaycob Brugman was selected by the Oakland Athletics!
Last week was very crazy and eventful! Jaycob was elegible to be re-drafted (first time was out of high school - drafted by the New York Yankees) in the Major League Baseball Draft.
Here is link to an article that Jaycob's hometown newspaper wrote about the draft :
http://www.ahwatukee.com/sports/article_30a30b40-d4c3-11e2-90a6-0019bb2963f4.html
Here is a map I made to guess where Jaycob would be drafted. He had heard from every team, so we really had no clue what would happen.
My brother in law, Adam Gerulat and friend Bret guessed correctly.
Jaycob's name was called on the draft when he was on the phone with a scout from the Angel's Organization. Jaycob said he didn't hear his name but we were all screaming so he soon realized.
After celebrating, Jaycob, his brothers, and his dad went to his high school to hit and throw. Even on a day that most people would take off to celebrate, Jaycob is always making baseball a priority and putting in time to work on getting even better.
The next day we drove from Phoenix (where his parents live) to Vegas and stayed a night at The Red Rock. It was our last "date night" before he was to report to mini-camp with the A's.
We relaxed by the pool - which is incredible by the way. I totally recommend staying there. Then we had dinner and saw a movie all within our hotel. It was so great!
The next morning we had a 4D HD Ultrasound at Miracle in Progress in Summerlin, Nevada. HD ultrasounds are not available in Utah so it worked perfectly for us to be able to stop in vegas. It was beyond words INCREDIBLE!! They gave us pictures and a dvd of the full session. Our little baby was very smiley and yawned many times.

4D HD Ultrasound -Smiles & Yawns |
We then drove back home to Utah where I had a surprise "Congrats on the Draft" party waiting for Jaycob. I couldn't have done it without my mom and sister Nicole. They set everything up. Nicole made an insane cake! She is incredibly talented!
Themed Snacks: Baseball Cake, Home Shaven Shave Ice, Peanuts, Sunflower Seeds, Cracker Jacks, Beef Jerky, and A's Cookies
Some BYU baseball friends! Me & Jaycob, Adam Law (drafted by the Dodgers), Haley & Brock Luker (Brock introduced Jaycob and me), Madison & Drew Dennis (Pitcher at BYU), Deidre & Adam Miller (drafted by the Diamond Backs).
Bright and Early the next morning, I dropped Jaycob off at the airport to fly back to Arizona for A's mini-camp. He's been there this whole week and yesterday was selected to move up to the A's short season team in Vermont. The Vermont Sea Monsters. He is flying there today!
I am so proud of him for all he has accomplished and is continuing to work hard to accomplish. He is one of the most determined people I know. We LOVE you Jaycob!!
